Primary Care and Public Health Initiative

Strong linkages across health care and public health are vital to addressing national health priorities at a systemic level. Health reform changes make strong collaboration among clinicians and organizations in these fields even more pressing.

To foster linkages between public health and primary care, CDC is working to

• Integrate population health into medical residency program curricula and competencies
• Increase clinician understanding of public health problems and national initiatives offering potential solutions
• Increase clinician awareness and use of CDC resources
