Program Screening Criteria

The Osteoarthritis Action Alliance (OAAA) screens intervention programs and designates whether they become classified as Arthritis-Appropriate Evidence-Based Interventions (AAEBIs). The OAAA screens arthritis interventions based on criteria that were created in consult with subject matter experts.

The CDC Arthritis Management and Wellbeing Program promotes and recognizes these AAEBIs, which are proven to improve the quality of life of adults with arthritis and helps make them available in communities across the country.

To learn more about each of these programs, including how individuals can participate, and how organizations can apply to have their program evaluated for recognition as an AAEBI, please visit The OA Action Alliance website.

Information about processes and screening criteria used prior to 2018 to assess interventions for inclusion as AAEBIs is available in a 2009 journal article titled “Public health interventions for arthritis: expanding the toolbox of evidence-based interventions”.1
