Departures

CDC Rwanda bids a warm farewell to:

Lindsay Little, MPH – Strategic Information Fellow under the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health (ASPPH); departed post on December 30, 2016 after working with CDC Rwanda for one and a half years. Lindsay has now joined USAID Rwanda.
Antoine Gasasira, MD – Prevention Team Lead; departed post on February 17, 2017 after working with CDC Rwanda for six years. Antoine has now joined The Global Fund to Fight HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Geneva, Switzerland.
Esperance Mukantwali – Administrative Assistant, Science and Research; departed post on March 17, 2017 after working with CDC Rwanda for two years. Esperance has now joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Guinea.
Lisa A. Mills, MD, MSc – Deputy Director for Research and Science; departed post on October 27, 2017 after working with CDC Rwanda for more than one year. Lisa has now joined CDC Uganda.
Josiane Uwineza – Executive Assistant to the Director; departed post on November 30, 2017 after working with CDC Rwanda for four years. Josiane has now joined the U.S. Embassy Mission to Rwanda.
Winifred King, MPH, PHD – Grants Manager; will depart post on December 30th, 2017 after working with CDC Rwanda for four years. Winifred now joins CDC Lesotho.

CDC Rwanda bids a warm welcome to:

Sherene Cora, MPH, CHES – new Deputy Country Director in charge of Management and Operations, joined CDC Rwanda in May 26, 2017. Sherene is a Commissioned Corps Officer and holds the rank of Commander. Prior to joining CDC Rwanda Sherene was the Deputy Associate Director for Operations and Management at CDC Botswana from 2015 to 2017.
Emily Piercefield, MD, DVM, MPH, MS – new CDC Resident Advisor for the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) joined CDC Rwanda in June 2017. Emily will work closely with her counterparts in PMI at USAID’s Health Office. Emily has recently spent time on deployments for the control and prevention of outbreaks of Ebola and Zika Virus. Emily is a Commissioned Corps Officer and holds the rank of Captain. She has clinical experience as an emergency medicine provider and flight surgeon with both the U.S. Air Force and Coast Guard.
Elysee Tuyishime, MSc – new Research and Evaluation Statistician, joined CDC Rwanda on July 24, 2017. Prior to joining CDC, Elysee worked as a statistician at UNICEF Rwanda.
Marie Louise Umwangange – new Administrative Assistant, Science and Research, joined CDC Rwanda in October, 2017. Prior to joining CDC, Marie worked as a tutorial assistant at the National University of Rwanda.

CDC Rwanda congratulates the following recently promoted staff:

Jared Omolo, MD – On November 27, 2016; Jared was promoted to the position of Title 42 Direct Hire and now joins CDC Rwanda as our HIV epidemiologist. Jared previously worked as a contractor with CDC for over five years.
Josiane Uwineza – On March 5, 2017, Josiane was promoted to the position of Executive Assistant to the Country Director. Josiane previously served as the Public Health Administrative Assistant.
Canisious Musoni, MD – On March 5, 2017, Canisious was promoted to the position of Clinical Services Team Lead. Canisious previously served as the Pediatric Care and Treatment Specialist.
Emah Ndengo – On June 26, 2017, Emah was promoted to the position of Prevention Specialist. Emah previously served as the Grants Management Assistant.
Andre Mbayiha, MD, MPH – On July 24, 2017, Andre was promoted to the position of Prevention Team Lead. Andre previously served as the Prevention for Key Populations Specialist.
