From November 25th to December 10th individuals, organizations, and communities from around the world come together to shed light on gender-based violence (GBV) and to call for its elimination globally. Learn how CDC’s programs and partnerships contribute to the global effort to prevent and respond to GBV.

This year, 2020, the world is commemorating the 40-year anniversary of the declaration of the eradication of smallpox. Considered to be the greatest achievement in international public health to date, we have many lessons learned from this monumental achievement that today’s public health professionals can apply to current and future disease outbreak efforts across the world.
Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared over

The 11th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) was declared over by the DRC Ministry Health (MOH) and WHO on November 18. This milestone means 42 days, or two incubation periods of the virus, passed with no new cases since the last survivor tested negative.
