CDC continues to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and its more than 18,000 graduates in 80 countries. These dedicated public health professionals are our “boots on the ground” in the ongoing battle against infectious diseases, public health emergencies, and chronic diseases.

FETP – 40 Years of Protecting the World by Building Global Health Capacity
Over the past 40 years, CDC helped establish Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs) throughout the world, with over 18,000 trained disease detectives in over 80 countries.
Thailand FETP Celebrates 40 Years of Training, Mentorship, and Public Health Successes
In 1980, Thailand initiated the very first FETP — then known as “Global EIS” — outside of North America.
Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) 40th Anniversary
In more than 80 countries, CDC has supported partner-government efforts to train a local workforce of qualified “disease detectives.”
