December 1 is World AIDS Day, and CDC invites you to join in its observance. This year the U.S. Government’s theme, “Putting Ourselves to the Test: Achieving Equity to End HIV,” emphasizes accountability and action, affirming our dedication to ending the HIV epidemic globally, by ensuring equitable access to quality, people-centered HIV prevention and treatment services.

CDC partnership with Uganda’s Ministry of Health led to a significant reduction in the rates of mother-to-child transmission of HIV from over 20 percent in 2000 to 2.8 percent in 2021.
