Eliminating HIV as a Global Public Health Threat
The latest CDC Vital Signs report shows how efforts by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to eliminate HIV globally have led to transformative progress in under 20 years. The analysis also revealed that, despite these tremendous achievements, gaps still remain. The report highlights that PEPFAR’s efforts have not only dramatically altered the course of the HIV pandemic but have also strengthened the health systems that keep the world safe from other global health threats.
