Updates from the Field: Stories of Regional Collaboration

Regional collaborations are a cornerstone of global health security and are instrumental in addressing the public health threats of our time. They allow us to strengthen communication, consolidate functions, create efficiencies, and accelerate progress in preventing, detecting and responding to disease threats.

In the newest issue of Updates from the Field, we highlight how the Division of Global Health Protection and other CDC groups have connected people and systems within different regions and around the globe. In Africa, we connected disease detectives from Nigeria and Benin to respond to a Lassa fever outbreak. In the Americas, we addressed a deadly fungus and continue to support response efforts to measles outbreaks. In the Middle East/Europe, we helped improve vaccination coverage for polio in Syria and in Asia worked to bring safe water to Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.

We hope you will join us in recognizing the impact of CDC’s innovative work as we remain committed to creating a safer, healthier world.
