Botswana PMTCT Program Trends (2002-2020)

This chart shows several trends for the Botswana Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) program from 2002 to 2020.

The blue line tracks women tested for HIV, which increased from 49 percent in 2002 to 98 percent in 2020. The trend for women tested for HIV has maintained above 90 percent since 2009.

The pink line tracks program uptake, it shows the rate of women who sign up for the Botswana PMTCT program. The rate increased from 27 percent in 2002 to 98 percent in 2020. The program uptake rate has maintained above 90 percent since 2009.

The red line tracks the percentage of HIV infected babies from 2008 to 2020. The rate of HIV infected babies decreased from 2.3 percent in 2008 to 0.56 percent in 2020 as indicated by program data.
