CDC Hosts 58th Annual Epidemic Intelligence Services (EIS) Conference
Who:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will host the 58th annual Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Conference.
What:
CDC’s EIS program is a two-year postgraduate program of service and on-the-job training for health professionals interested in the practice of epidemiology. EIS officers, also known as Disease Detectives, are sent out to assist local and state health departments as well as deployed internationally to facilitate various health studies and investigations.
The CDC Disease Detectives will present findings from recent investigations, including:
- Multipathogen Waterborne Disease Outbreak Onboard a Boat – Chicago, 2008
- Medical Overdoses Leading to Emergency Department Visits Among Children and Adolescents
- The Association Between Serum Vitamin D Levels and Childhood Obesity
- BALieve It or Not? Legionnaires’ Disease Among Patients Undergoing Bronchoalveolar Lavage – Arizona, 2008
- Analysis of Asthma-Related Mortality Using Multiple Cause-of-Death Files – United States, 1999-2006
- Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Surveillance in the King County, Washington, Jail System – September 1, 2007-August 31, 2008
