Telebriefing Set for Updates on U.S. Influenza Activity and Flu Vaccination Rates for Current Season

CDC Announces National Influenza Vaccination Week, Dec. 5-11

What

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will host a telephone-only media briefing Friday, December 3, to provide up to date figures on U.S. influenza activity and vaccination rates and to announce this season's National Influenza Vaccination Week. This year, National Influenza Vaccination Week will be observed December 5-11. National Influenza Vaccination Week was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination, as well as fostering greater use of flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond.

A seasonal flu vaccination is recommended this year for everyone over the age of six months to stop the spread of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will post seasonal flu information on their websites: www.cdc.gov/flu and www.flu.gov
