Respiratory Protection Workshop

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is hosting a scientific workshop to solicit comments and information on respiratory protection for preventing transmission of airborne infectious agents. Approximately, 200 experts and representatives from various professional organizations, unions, federal agencies and advisory committees are expected to participate in the two day workshop.

WHY:

CDC is convening this workshop to ask participants to exchange information on the following topics:

  • The current state of scientific knowledge regarding transmission of infectious agents through the air, particularly as it relates to respiratory protection for workers and patients;
  • Current science regarding respiratory protection as related to droplet and certain aerosol-transmitted agents;
  • Strategies for improving the quality and effectiveness of respiratory protection; and
  • Identify research needs to fill current knowledge gaps in respiratory protection.
