Building Data Systems for Monitoring and Responding to Violence Against Women
This report presents recommendations regarding public health surveillance of violence against women. These recommendations address the definition of the problem; the need for multiple measures/collaboration across health, criminal justice and social service disciplines and agencies; data collection strategies; methodological concerns; and confidentiality and safety. Violence encompasses a broad range of maltreatment against women, including physical violence, sexual violence, threats of physical and /or sexual violence, stalking, and psychological/emotional abuse.
