Estimated New HIV infections among Hispanics/Latinos, 2009, by Transmission Category:
This chart reflects the estimated number of new HIV infections among Hispanics/Latinos broken down by transmission category. Of the 9,400 new HIV infections that occurred among Hispanics in 2009, 64% were among men who have sex with men (MSM), 25% were among heterosexuals (18% female; 7% male); 10% were among injection drug users (IDU) (6% male; 4% female); and 2% were among MSM/IDU.
