Why

Foodborne illnesses cause a substantial health impact in the United States. This report highlights foodborne illness disease trends measured through the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet). FoodNet conducts active, population-based surveillance from 10 U.S. sites on diseases commonly transmitted by food. This report describes preliminary surveillance data for 2014 and compares them with data from 2006–2008 and 2011–2013.
