We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Rosemary V. Hernandez, known to many as Rose.  When smoking gave her lung cancer, she gave her story to millions, moving many to quit smoking or to never start.  Not only did Rose touch the millions of Americans who saw her ads in our Tips From Former Smokers campaign last year, but she also inspired the many teens she spoke to at events in her native Texas.  Even as she fought her illness, she found the strength to travel in November to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, marking the start of Lung Cancer Awareness Month.  Rose undoubtedly saved many lives with her heartfelt message.  We will always cherish the memories of her determined spirit and her infectious laughter.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rose’s friends and family.
