What
Strategies for Recess in Schools identifies 19 effective strategies schools can implement to increase student physical activity and academic achievement. Recess Planning in Schools: A Guide to Putting Strategies for Recess into Practice complements the strategies document by guiding schools through their development of a written recess plan. One tool in the guide, developed by CDC and SHAPE America, is a customizable Recess Planning Template to help schools use proven strategies to improve recess for students. Recess in schools benefits students by increasing their level of physical activity; improving their memory, attention, and concentration; helping them stay on-task and reducing disruptive behavior in the classroom; and improving their social and emotional development.
