Paulina Hawkins
Paulina Hawkins joined DBD as an associate service fellow with an emphasis on molecular epidemiology. She is a molecular biologist with 20 years of experience in phylogenetics and genomics. Previously, she was a microbiologist in NCIRD’s Respiratory Diseases Branch. During this fellowship, she hopes to bridge the gap between laboratory research, bioinformatics, and epidemiology. She has a BS in biology from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, and an MPH in epidemiology from Emory University. In her free time, Paulina enjoys, swimming, going on hikes, and visiting state parks with her husband, two kids, and their dog Cheerio. She also loves to cook and collects cookbooks and kitchen gadgets.
