2021 Annual Data Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program
Each year, CDC sends the Hearing Screening & Follow-up Survey (HSFS) to state and territorial Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs to request information on infant hearing screening, diagnostic evaluation, and enrollment in early intervention services for infants born in the state/territory in a specified calendar year. The survey helps to measure progress toward identifying infants with permanent hearing loss across the United States and ensuring they are enrolled in services to minimize risks for developmental delays. The data summaries on this page
- Provide results from the 2021 HSFS,
- Are helpful to the EHDI community, including researchers, audiologists, intervention providers, and federal and non-governmental partner organizations, and
- Can be used to inform clinical and public health work at local, state, and federal levels.
