Mining Feature: Workshop held on Silica Exposure and Lung Disease in the Mining Industry

An important workshop titled: "Silica Exposure and Lung Disease in the Mining Industry," was held on Oct. 22-23, 2020. The virtual workshop was presented as a part of the joint partnership between NIOSH and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) on respirable mine dust.
The workshop provided participants with an understanding of past and current silica exposures among miners, sampling and analytic techniques, technologies to reduce miner’s exposures and an opportunity to hear from those on the frontline on the tools they are implementing to reduce exposure.
