“NORA Symposium 2011: Achieving Impact through Research and Partnerships,” a national symposium of occupational safety and health research under the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA), will convene on July 12 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Like its predecessors, the 7th NORA Symposium will showcase excellence in occupational safety and health research, and the application of that research to prevent work related injury and illness.

This year’s symposium is specifically focused on research and partnerships. The sector based structure of the second decade of NORA has fostered the creation of many exciting partnership opportunities among many diverse organizations.

NORA Symposium 2011 is sponsored by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the University of Cincinnati, Department of Environmental Health, and the University of Cincinnati Education and Research Center. Information on registration, lodging, and preliminary agenda can be found at https://www.team-psa.com/NORA2011/aboutNora.asp. More information on NORA is available at https://www.cdc.gov/nora/.

“Stimulated by NORA, new partnerships with practitioners have significantly enhanced the NIOSH Research-to-Practice (r2p) initiative, which helps us assure that the products of our research ultimately benefit the health and well-being of workers,” said NIOSH Director John Howard M.D. “These benefits extend as well to workers’ families, their communities, businesses, and society as a whole.”

NIOSH is the federal agency that conducts research and makes recommendations for preventing work-related injuries, illnesses, and deaths. More information on NIOSH is available at www.cdc.gov/niosh.
