During the COVID-19 pandemic, public health practitioners encouraged the use of hand sanitizers to prevent spread of the virus. However, methanol poisonings associated with swallowing hand sanitizer increased—and, left untreated, could result in death. Arizona took an integrated view across data sources to track methanol poisonings.
