Activity: Ask the Experts
Description: Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center will set up tables in waiting rooms with posters, balloons and handouts. Information will be geared toward providing parents who have vaccine questions with information to address their concerns. Organizers will encourage parents to “Ask the Experts” and open up the dialog between caregiver and provider.

Activity: A Shower of Protection for your Baby’s Health
Description: To celebrate how vaccines can provide powerful protection to infants, the Greater Danbury Immunization Program will visit Danbury Hospital’s Family Birth Center to offer educational information to new parents and their families. An informative display and table of handouts will be set up in the center’s waiting area. Each new mom will receive a gift bag filled with DPH brochures on childhood Immunizations & the CT Immunization Registry, CDC Immunization schedules, vaccine safety resources & record booklets and gift for the new baby.

Activity: NIIW information table
Description: City of New Britain Health Department will host an informational table at the local New Britain Women, Infants, and Children Office (WIC). Information available will include immunizations for infants, immunization for pregnant mothers, and The Connecticut Immunization Registry and Tracking System (CIRTS). Information will be provided for all families who are currently enrolled in WIC.

Activity: “Shots for Tots” Talk for Parents
Description: Norwalk Health Department staff will give a presentation to families enrolled in the Parents as Teacher’s Program (PAT). PAT is a support program for young families offered by Family and Children’s Agency (FCA) of Norwalk. The attendees will learn about the vaccinations needed for young children, the immunization schedule, the CT Immunization Registry & Tracking System (CIRTS), and receive tips on how to keep their children up-to-date. The event is free for FCA clients.

Activity: CIRTS and Immunization Record Check
Description: Attendees can stop by the lobby outside of the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) office at the Norwalk Health Department to receive information throughout the day regarding the CT Immunization Registry and Tracking System (CIRTS), childhood vaccines, vaccine safety and the whooping cough vaccine. Immunization records will be checked for children in CIRTS. Enrollment will be offered for those not previously entered. Free event and giveaways!

Description: The Springfield Academy supports immunizations for children and staff, and values the importance of immunization. The Main Street Child Development Center in Fairfax, VA will host the “Be Wise, Immunize” puppet presentation. KinderCare Learning Center of Main Street Fairfax will participate by having children color immunization pictures and decorate the center’s doors with artwork.

Description: NACCHO will observe NIIW to promote the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities. NACCHO will host a webinar featuring Every Child By Two’s 2018 State of the ImmUnion. This special report examines how strong the nation’s defenses are against vaccine-preventable diseases and what can be done to make our ImmUnion stronger and more resilient in the face of emerging health threats. Speaker Erica DeWald will discuss the recently released State of the ImmUnion report, and highlight:
- The successes of vaccines;
- The economic and societal savings incurred from vaccines;
- Vaccine-preventable disease challenges facing the public health system; and
- Key areas of focus to achieve optimal protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.
