Global Introduction of New Vaccines: Delivering More to More
Presented on .
The March session of Grand Rounds “Global Introduction of New Vaccines: Delivering More to More,” was viewed in 6 foreign countries and in 43 states, plus the District of Columbia.
Vaccinations save the lives of 2 to 3 million people every year, including children. Yet 1 child dies every 20 seconds from a disease that could have been prevented by a vaccine. Why? Because 1 in 5 children in the world do not have access to the life-saving immunizations that keep children healthy.
Join us for this session to find out how CDC and its global partners work together to protect people of all ages from life-threatening, vaccine-preventable diseases. Learn about regional and global outbreaks of new or emerging vaccine-preventable diseases, and hear about the successes and challenges of introducing new vaccines around the world.
CDC and its global partners work together to protect people of all ages from life-threatening, vaccine-preventable diseases. Dr. Phoebe Thorpe and Dr. Carsten Mantel discuss new vaccines and the successes and challenges of introducing new vaccines to communities and countries around the word. Will we the public be receiving full listing of ingredients and possible side effects with these new vaccines?
The public has access to vaccine information and a full list of ingredients for each US vaccine. The following links provide more information on specific vaccines and ingredients: Vaccine Safety and vaccine ingredients list.
In low-income countries, will the population be vaccinated gratuitously?
Vaccination is undoubtedly one of the most significant advances in public health. Both political and financial support is needed in order to sustain vaccination efforts in any country, which ultimately poses more challenges among low- and middle-income countries. This report by WHO reviews the estimated economic impact of vaccinations in low- and middle-income countries from 2001 - 2020 along with a case study on how new vaccines are prioritized in low-income countries.
