As Senior Advisor for Strategy and Innovation, Ms Cahill provides leadership and direction for strategic planning at CDC/ATSDR. She develops long range plans that will enable CDC to meet future public health challenges. Ms. Cahill works internally and externally to communicate the Directors priorities for CDC/ATSDR with public health partners, private industry and other stakeholders.
Ms. Cahill served as Associate Director for Policy, Planning and Evaluation from 1996-2002. In this role she was the senior policy advisory to the CDC Director on policy and planning issues, program evaluation and partnership development. Before assuming this position, Ms. Cahill led CDCs effort to work with managed care organizations and purchasers of health care as the Director of the Office of Managed Care.
From 1994-1996, Ms. Cahill served as the Director of Immunization Services Division of the National Immunization Program. Her previous positions with CDC include Deputy Director of the Public Health Practice Program Office; Chief, Program Development and Technical Support Section, Division of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV Prevention in the National Center for Prevention Services; Senior Public Health Advisor, California STD Control Program and CDC State Representative for the Kentucky Immunization Program.
Before working for CDC, she had nine years of experience in public health with the State of Washington, Department of Social and Health Services.
Ms. Cahill received her BA degree in health education from Central Washington State University and her MPH from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health.
